Changeover Panel

A Changeover Panel, also known as a Changeover Switch Panel, is an essential electrical control panel designed to switch the power source from the main utility supply to a backup source—such as a generator or inverter—in the event of a power failure. Once the main supply is restored and stabilized, the panel safely switches the load back to the utility, ensuring uninterrupted power to critical systems and operations.

Changeover Panels are available in two types: Manual Changeover Panels, which require an operator to physically switch between power sources, and Automatic Changeover Panels equipped with an ATS (Automatic Transfer Switch) that automatically detects power loss and initiates the switchover without manual intervention. Automatic panels are widely used in environments where downtime is unacceptable, such as hospitals, data centers, industries, and commercial buildings.

These panels typically include main and DG circuit breakers or contactors, control relays or PLCs, status indicators (e.g., mains ON, DG running), and protection devices such as MCBs, fuses, and surge arresters. The system is engineered to ensure a safe, reliable, and efficient transfer between power sources while protecting both the load and the equipment.

At Amtech Power, we provide customized Changeover Panels—manual or automatic—designed for smooth operation, minimal downtime, and maximum protection. Our solutions are ideal for residential, commercial, and industrial applications, offering reliable performance and seamless power management during outages or supply transitions.

Changeover Panel (Manual & Automatic)

A Changeover Panel (also called a Changeover Switch Panel) is an electrical control panel that automatically or manually switches the power supply source from the main supply (utility/grid) to a backup source (like a generator or inverter) in case of a power failure—and vice versa when power returns.

What It Does

Ensures continuous power by switching between sources safely and efficiently. Key functions include:

Ensures uninterrupted power to critical loads

Changes over the load connection between sources safely

Types of Changeover Panels

Manual Changeover Panel:

  • Requires an operator to manually flip the switch to change the power source.
  • Simple and economical

Automatic Changeover Panel (with ATS):

  • Automatically detects power failure and switches to the backup supply.
  • Restores power from the main supply once it stabilizes.
  • Common in homes, industries, hospitals, and data centers.

Typical Components in a Changeover Panel

Main & DG circuit breakers or contactors

Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) for auto operation

Status indicators (e.g., power on, DG running)

Control relays or PLCs for automation

Protection devices (fuses, MCBs, surge protectors)

Applications of Changeover Panels

Residential buildings

Commercial complexes
